CHRISTOPHE ZOOGONES

Christophe ZOOGONES, jazz flautist and EWI player (Electric Wind Instrument) was born in 1983 in Saint-Denis de la Réunion in a family of musicians. Cradled in gospel and maloya, from a classical training then jazz at the Conservatory of Reunion, he moved to Paris in 2004 to join the first jazz school since 1976 (CIM). He was already noticed in 2007 at the first Flute Competition "Couleur Jazz" in Meaux.

In 2009, he joined the prestigious Paris Conservatory in order to learn more about jazz. He obtained with merit a Jazz prize in 2010, and in 2012 the Diploma

State professor of jazz at CEFEDEM d'lIe de France.

Between 2010 and 2012, Christophe participated as a composer-arranger on the Caribbean pop album project “Limyé mwen” (released in May 2013) by singer Gaby DIOP. He records in particular with Thomas BELLON (Kassav), Grégory PRIVAT, Maher BEAUROY, among others.

“Kind of Zoo”, his first album released in 2015 (Gaya music productions), testifies to a very dynamic vision of the blue note. Drawing his inspiration from jazz, maloya (traditional music from Reunion Island), Soul, World Music, but also from Caribbean swing and funk grooves, he digs with his quartet the groove traced by illustrious predecessors like Sabouk, or more recently Meddy Gerville and Olivier Ker Ourio. In 2016 Christophe was awarded "Best world artist, jazz 2016 by" the Voices of the Indian Ocean "

The following years will be an opportunity for Christophe to make valuable collaborations with other musicians including: Meddy GERVILLE, Thierry FANFANT, Michel ALIBO, Grégory PRIVAT, Davy HONNET, Anthony JAMBON, Ouriel ELLERT, Yoann KEMPST, Davy HONNET , Jeff LUDOVICUS, Guillaume RAMAYE ...

Since that day, he has multiplied musical experiences and collaborations as a sideman, notably within the Thierry MAILLARD big band (Hadrien FERAUD, Yoann SCHMIDT, Stéphane GUILLAUME, Stéphane CHAUSSE, Claude EGEA, Daniel ZIMMERMANN, Sébastien LLADO, David ENHCO, Lucas SAINT CRICQ, Ludivine ISSAMBOURG, Samy THIEBAULT, Médéric COLLIGNON, Didier HAVET)
